Another roof finished in Barnstaple by our local team.
This one looked like a straightforward job at first, but once we stripped off the old fibre cement slates, battens and felt and got down to the bones of the roof, we found the rafter feet and wall plate had rotted through.
We replaced the wall plate and strengthened the rafters from the purlin down, then fully insulated between each rafter. From there we fitted eaves ventilation and eaves support trays, new felt and battens, and new fibre cement slates to keep it in line with the neighbouring properties. To finish, we installed a new Code 4 lead flashing where the roof meets the main house.
It's a good example of why we always check what's underneath before covering it back up. The roof is now sound, properly ventilated and insulated, and should give the homeowner many years of trouble free service.
Well done to the team on this one.
