Getting the groundwork right is one of the most important stages of any extension project. Leon & the lads have been carefully excavating these footings using both machinery & hand digging to ensure every section is dug to the correct depth and specification ahead of the concrete pour.

Attention to detail matters. From accurate levels and solid preparation, right through to keeping the site clean, safe, and organised throughout the process.

Our client wanted to remove this non-load bearing wall to open up the area as part of their renovation project 😍

We gently took down the brickwork for the opening size required, and used a mortise-and-tenon join for the oak - this was further strengthened with oak dowels. We did this onsite to form the shape of the opening.

We then put small horizontal posts at the height desired by the client, and boarded underneath, and surrounding, which will be plastered. The oak will then be sanded and oiled, beautifully showcasing this feature 🤗

We shall show the final finish when the refurbishment works are complete ✨

ZINC ROOF PREPARATION: PART TWO 🔨
After prepping the roof with membrane and ply, have started laying the standing seam zinc roof covering, as well as the guttering, zinc soffits & fascias. The DLB lads are inside insulating and plasterboarding ready for the next step! We can’t wait for the roof reveal 😍

UNEXPECTED SURPRISES 🥲
Following on from our previous post about renovations & alterations… we uncovered a leak on this job…

After taking the kitchen ceiling down, Elliot witnessed water coming through where the upstairs shower was - whilst it was in use.

After closer inspection, the shower panelling was poorly installed, allowing water to get through behind the tray.

The sub floor was investigated for any damaged/rotten floor joists caused by the leaking shower tray.

The customer selected new panelling to be reinstated… and to be fitted correctly.

RENOVATIONS & REFURBISHMENTS💥
• We removed the existing kitchen.
• We formed a new opening between the kitchen and dining area, and blocked up the existing kitchen door.
• We removed the existing bathroom & created a doorway to the garage with a fire door.
• We built a new shower area in the existing garage.
• Further structural alteration were made… and hidden issues were uncovered!
