Our portfolio of private residential projects includes large and small family homes, garden pods suitable for living, work and leisure, and city centre rooftop extensions. Wood is a renewable resource and its ability to store carbon for the life of the building makes it the greenest choice. Responsibly sourced engineered timber products such as CLT and Glulam are precision pre-fabricated to mm tolerance resulting in a fast, clean, efficient, zero waste construction phase. CLT’s excellent airtightness performance also means that your new home can achieve passivhaus and NZEB standards.

Caffe Kix is a ‘workplace café’ for Quantum Business Park in Maidenhead which provides serviced office space for digital tech companies.

The exposed CLT soffit is uninterrupted by support columns and the structural CLT wall panels support a 240 mm roof slab. Glazing at either side of the building is punctuated by glulam columns to provide support and floods the interior with light. Exposed timber throughout enhances the aesthetic, making for a welcoming user experience.

G-frame Structures designed, supplied and installed the CLT and glulam structure, completing the installation in one weekend in order to minimize disruption to the business park.

Great to see the progress at Teach Spruis – a four storey, three bedroom terrace house in South Dublin formed entirely of CLT designed, supplied and installed by G-frame Structures Ltd.

CLT’s speed and ease of construction overcame the constraints of working on this very tight urban site, which has single lane access and limited space for lifting equipment.

Use of CLT also enabled designer EDEN Architects to achieve key design features including a south facing, double height living space with a mezzanine floor.

In our role as a mass timber specialist we’ve helped deliver several sports and community projects including Young Hackney Eastway, Revitalise Peckham Rye and Livewell Centre.

Mass timber provides the ideal structural solution for such schemes as they often feature large sports courts and public spaces and this is when CLT and Glulam’s ability to achieve long, uninterrupted spans really comes into its own.

Mass timber is robust and low maintenance making it suitable for community and sports applications where often the timber structure will be expressed internally, subject to the daily wear and tear of boisterous group activity.

No. 2 Maidenhead Office Park is a two-storey CLT and Glulam extension designed by Hutchison Kivotos Architects. The mass timber superstructure was designed, supplied and installed by G-Frame Structures.

CLT’s relative light weight was key to overcoming issues of access to the site which is via an old railway bridge that has strict weight restrictions in place.

The extension connects the two original wings of an existing 38,000 sq ft office building and creates a welcoming ‘heart space’ opening to a generous landscaped courtyard.

A key design consideration was for a building that could be showcased as part of a company’s external branding as well as offering a comfortable workplace that would foster a sense of wellbeing. The internally exposed wood achieves this, creating a calm and tranquil atmosphere and providing a contrast to the standard, traditional finish of the original office space.

A mass timber extension will transform a tired office building into a desirable and healthy workplace fit for young start-ups and established companies alike.

Extending and improving an existing structure with timber will result in much a much lower carbon footprint when compared with a standard new building. In the highly competitive commercial lettings market, it is a sound investment to offer incoming tenants this sort of truly sustainable differentiating factor; as growing consumer awareness and strength of feeling about climate change and sustainability makes itself felt in the commercial world, businesses are increasingly seeing their work place or HQ as a brand extension that reflects their view on sustainability.

Great to see Spatial Design Architects stunning family home, Holly Lodge, is now complete. The G-frame team designed, supplied and installed CLT for this two-bedroom dwelling set within a secluded, tree lined plot in one of the most sought after villages in Essex.

Inspired by the unusual sloped site, a gabion walled basement housing a double garage and workshop forms the ground floor with a cantilevered CLT structure above featuring two floor to ceiling structurally glazed gables, which provides the main family living space.

Vertical extensions come in all shapes and sizes and can be large or small. In a one-off residential setting they are an ideal way to grow your home instead of having to move.

In south London G-frame designed, supplied and installed the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) superstructure for this compact 25 sqm scheme built on the roof of an end of terrace house which was originally part of a Victorian boarding school.

CLT’s relatively light weight, speed and ease of construction helped deliver the brief for an en-suite master bedroom with roof terrace. The extension came with a limited budget; it is designed to maximise available light and the CLT, which has been treated with a light whitewash, has been left exposed throughout.

Water Gardens Pod by Fletcher Crane Architects is a Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) vertical extension slotted between an existing office building and a 17 storey apartment block. It clearly demonstrates CLT’s versatility and ability to overcome tough design and site requirements.

The luxury home for private rental in the heart of Paddington’s famous brutalist Water Gardens Estate, brings to life a small, seemingly inaccessible brown field site to address the issues of high density living in an ingenious and creative way.

G-frame Structures designed, supplied and installed the CLT structure for the mono-pitched pod which accommodates three inward-facing bedrooms and three bathrooms and links to the main apartment building by a glass entranceway.

Did you know that under the Permitted Development Right building owners are free to extend upward by two storeys without the need for planning permission?

G-frame Structures have designed, supplied and installed a variety of residential and commercial vertical extensions using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). Extending upward presents questions of weight and how to interface with the existing structure, as well as logistical constraints around site access and working on the rooftop of a potentially occupied residential building.

This is where mass timber comes into its own: its relative lightweight and accuracy ensure speed and ease of construction with zero waste. Offsite manufacture of the mass timber components results in efficient installation of the superstructure and helps overcome the constrained nature of many rooftop sites. The number of deliveries is also minimised, as is disturban

Fancy working in an office like this? This hybrid + steel rooftop extension is built above an existing office building just off London’s Oxford Circus. The scheme by Barr Gazeta Architects creates a new 5th floor along with a new roof terrace at 27 Mortimer Street.

G-frame Structures were responsible for the design, supply and installation of the infill panels that create the 5th floor. Due to the building’s Central London location and the extremely tight site, logistics were complex and access to install the CLT was limited to weekends only.

Existing communal areas have also been refurbished and a new reception area created. Overall the scheme will provide approximately 13,500 sq ft of Category A and B workspace.
