The Oliva Cigar story began in the late 1800s, when Melanio Oliva started growing cigar to***co in Cuba. His heirs carried on the family tradition in the fields, but it was his grandson Gilberto Oliva Sr. who began making ci**rs.

Nicaraguan to***co helped Oliva survive. The cigar that brought it to the attention of connoisseurs debuted in 2006: Oliva Serie V. Made by a small group of rollers and blended for strength and style, the Serie V line was an immediate hit. In 2012, to pay tribute to the first man in the family to grow cigar to***co, Oliva added the Melanio version, which is distinguished from the original by its Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. The No. 1 Cigar of the Year 2014, Oliva Serie V Melanio Figuarado has rich, big notes of leather framed by a range of coffee, caramel and woody intonations. It’s a classic smoke.

Serie V is a complex blend of Nicaraguan long filler to***cos. Blended with specially fermented Jalapa Valley ligero, and finished with a high priming Sun Grown Wrapper.

Asylum 13 is certainly eye-catching with a Nicaraguan Habano seed wrapper overlaid with a strip of Candela wrapper to create a barber pole wrapper. By deliberately removing moisture during the drying process the to***co leaves retain their chlorophyll and thus their extraordinary green colour.

The Asylum 13 Ogre uses the same to***cos for the binder and filler as the original Asylum 13 blend. The Candela wrapper leaf combined with the dark Nicaraguan Habano seed wrapper offers a unique smoking experience with the Candela smoke exuding notes of flowering willows.

Beginning in 2019 with the Romeo y Julieta Maravillas No.8 (Year of the Rat), the Cohiba Siglo de Oro is the fourth release from Habanos s.a. to commemorate a Chinese lunar New Year.

The Siglo de Oro measures 4 ½” (115mm) x 54 ring gauge and is an entirely new size within the Habanos portfolio (Vitola de Galera is Exitosos or “successful” in English). Only 18,888 boxes of 18 ci**rs have been produced with each box housing a scannable chip secured to the inner lid allowing for instant authentication and information. Each cigar is dressed with the standard Cohiba band and a foot-band denoting the “Year of the Rabbit”.

Oro Blanco is the rarest cigar Davidoff has ever crafted. It is in fact so rare, that even we at Davidoff do not know when the Master Blender will be ready to release more of these remarkable ci**rs.

It takes three rivers to create a soil rich enough to grow these exceptional to***cos. It takes 12 years to age these to***cos and the skill and craft of the very best Davidoff Master Blender. Even then it takes a further 18 months of ageing until the cigar is at its very peak.
