SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS☘️
Trinity College has put Biodiversity in the front window at one of the busiest urban junctions on the island. These iconic lawns are being removed after 150 years due to a public vote and are being replaced with a native wildflower meadow. This is a powerful statement for BIODIVERSITY by Trinity and needs to be applauded
Next week we are meeting on site to discuss the rejuvenation of 3 small green roofs for BIODIVERSITY 🐝
‘Bualadh bos’ Trinity College 👏 Thanks for photos

OUR WARMING WORLD🌍
Pretty stark when illustrated like this 🔥 🔥
Represented is the annual average temperatures for Ireland over the last 100 years.
All countries need to integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning!

‘FAIRY FORT and WHITETHORNS’
-
HAPPY MAY DAY - La Bealtaine, the beginning of Summer.
Entrance to Fairy Fort guarded by a ring of Whitethorns, the Bealtaine Tree. This Rath or ring fort is one of two on out home farm.
They are Ireland's most common field monument, circular enclosures usually made of earth,. There are more than 45,000 scattered throughout the country and they represent intense settlement from the early seventh century until the late ninth. Ringforts were used to protect cattle from the frequent raids on livestock.
For a rural population, the local ringfort was not a monument but an object more respected than revered as it, in many cases, symbolised fear of an unknown supernatural threat. The fairies were believed to reside within them. No God-fearing man or woman in their right mind would tamper with them. To destroy or build on one was to invite the wrath of spirits. The Whitethorn is called Sceach Gael in Irish but we also know it as the Fairy Tree for it is said to guard the entrance to the fairy realm and it is still considered bad luck to harm one. -
