⚠️ Unsafe Hob & Oven Installation Found ⚠️

Came across this dangerous hob and oven installation on a recent job.

The appliances had been connected using exposed junctions and poorly terminated cables, creating a serious fire and electric shock risk.

The installation was rectified by:

✔ Removing unsafe connections
✔ Correctly terminating and enclosing cables
✔ Testing the circuit to confirm safe operation

Faults like this are often hidden behind appliances and can go unnoticed for years.

⚡ Recent Rewire Completed ⚡

Another property recently brought up to modern electrical standards with a full rewire carried out throughout the house.

The work included installation of a new 18th Edition consumer unit with RCBO protection and SPD, new lighting and socket circuits, modern switches, cat6 data points and sockets, and a new supply installed to the garage with lighting and power points.

The existing kitchen ring circuit and hob/oven circuit were retained and fully tested before being connected to the new consumer unit.

All work was fully inspected, tested and certified in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

Friday throwback ⚡

This original inspection label was recently located at an installation — a proper blast from the past.

Electrical installations should be periodically inspected and tested to ensure they remain safe and compliant.

Over time:

✔ Standards change
✔ Protective devices improve

It’s always interesting to see how things were done years ago — but it’s even more important to make sure they’re still safe today.
