GMC has been running its apprenticeship programme for over 40 years, and it remains one of the things we’re most proud of. The finest tradespeople in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland have come through our ranks — and the very best have stayed, building careers at the top of the local construction industry, part of a close-knit team that genuinely looks after its own.
Meet Marcus — our apprentice bricklayer, now moving into his second year.In just 12 months, Marcus has done more than learn how to lay a course of brick. He’s developed the organisational skills, the work ethic, and the life skills that make a craftsman — not just a tradesperson. He’s on track to complete his two-year course in just 12–14 months, and has been nominated for Apprentice of the Year at College.
We are all incredibly proud of him at GMC.
