On World Entrepreneur Day, we’re celebrating our Director Alessandro Caruso, co-founder of ACA, whose personal journey shaped the vision and values of our practice.
While studying architecture, Alessandro survived an almost fatal motorbike accident, leaving him confined to a hospital bed for six months in an environment that was noisy, stressful and poorly designed.
During his recovery, he was given a second chance at life—and with it, a new perspective. Conversations with clinicians and first-hand experience of healthcare environments sparked a passion for healing architecture and a belief that thoughtfully designed buildings can have a profound impact on people’s wellbeing.
That experience became the foundation of ACA’s mission: to design buildings that improve lives, with a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation and creating spaces where people can thrive.
What began as one person’s vision has grown into an award-winning architectural practice delivering inspiring, people-centred designs across a diverse range of sectors. Alex’s entrepreneurial journey has always been driven by resilience, creativity and a determination to make a positive difference through architecture.
Today, his leadership continues to inspire our team as we embrace new challenges, support emerging talent and help shape a better built environment for future generations.
