In our latest YouTube video, I put both questions to the test in my own home.

Using real performance data, we look at:

✅ How much electricity the air-con unit consumes
✅ Whether the solar panels can cover that demand
✅ How effectively one indoor unit cools multiple rooms
✅ Why the position of the unit and the property layout matter
✅ Whether modern air conditioning could provide affordable home comfort

When solar generation is high enough, the electricity used by the air con can potentially be covered by the energy being generated on the roof—making cooling your home incredibly cost-effective.

🎙️ A big thank you to Mick for inviting me onto the Energy Unwrapped podcast!

I genuinely enjoyed the conversation and really appreciated the opportunity to talk about how we do things at Elite, share our experiences within the renewable energy industry and discuss how we believe things can be done better.

We covered the importance of quality design, correct installation and putting the customer at the centre of every project. Renewable technology has enormous potential, but its success depends on getting the fundamentals right—from the initial survey and system design through to installation, commissioning and ongoing support.

It was great to have an open and honest chat about the industry, the challenges we face and the improvements we can make together as we continue moving towards a cleaner and more sustainable future. 🌱⚡

🔥 Now That’s What We Call a Cool Underfloor Heating Design! 😎

There’s something incredibly satisfying about a neat underfloor heating installation—especially when the pipework lines up this well with the grid below!

The printed grid helps our engineers maintain accurate, consistent pipe spacing throughout the floor. This ensures excellent coverage, balanced heat output and fewer cold spots once the system is commissioned.

For this installation, we’ve used a carefully planned snail-pattern layout. The hottest flow water is directed towards the central area of the room first, before the pipework works its way back through the surrounding areas on the return.

This design offers some fantastic benefits:

✅ More even heat distribution across the floor
✅ Flow and return pipes sit alongside one another, helping to balance surface temperatures
✅ Comfortable radiant heat from the floor upwards
✅ Lower operating temperatures than traditional radiators
✅ Improved efficiency—particularly when paired with a heat pump
✅ No radiators taking up valuable wall space
✅ A cleaner, more comfortable and energy-efficient home

The finished pipework might eventually be hidden beneath the floor—but workmanship this neat deserves to be seen first! 👌🔥

Proper planning, accurate spacing and a tidy installation make all the difference. 😎

Complete Renewable Energy Upgrade in Walkington 🏡♻️

Another successful renewable energy installation completed by our team — and a fantastic result for this residential property in Walkington! 😎
The project included:
✅ High-efficiency Ideal HP290 air source heat pump
✅ New Evocyl unvented hot water cylinder
✅ Integration with the property’s existing solar PV system
✅ Homely smart energy hub for intelligent control and monitoring
✅ Ideal digital thermostat
✅ Consumer unit upgrade to accommodate the new electrical loads
✅ New insulated pipework, expansion vessels and supporting plumbing infrastructure
