New car thoughts...Hybrid or Electric?

I love my Hybrid Hyundai, its reliable and efficient but I bought a hybrid because I wasn't yet ready to jump to fully electric. I know it's the future but my fear is that current battery technology may end up being the "Sony mini disk" of the electric car world (this reference may be lost to anyone under 30!) I keep thinking I'll wait for car battery V2 to turn up.

Maybe I'm over thinking it? Should I just take the plunge?
