You’re never too experienced to keep learning.
Today, we undertook the quite epic journey from Bingley to Gloucestershire for our five-year Working at Heights refresher training, kindly organised by Howats Chimney Sweeps Ltd and delivered by Ability International.
Working safely at height is vital to our work, especially when chimney access is involved, so we take this training very seriously.
It was an excellent day with a great group of fellow chimney professionals — plenty of useful theory, but more importantly, lots of practical, hands-on training. We spent time building and working with chimney access towers, various access platforms, and equipment, focusing on safe set-up and the practical challenges we actually face on site.
A big thank you to our instructor Louis from Ability. He made the day genuinely enjoyable and informative, providing plenty of new information and useful techniques to take away.
Thanks also to , Sharon, and the team at Howats Chimney Sweeps for organising and hosting us—great atmosphere, good company, and definitely worth the journey down from Yorkshire.
We’ve been doing this work for many years, but experience should never lead to the belief that you know everything. Equipment evolves, techniques develop, and there is always something new to learn.
Keeping our knowledge current and continually improving our methods are essential parts of doing the job properly.
