🔥Double trouble on this pre installation chimney sweep🔥

This chimney had not one, but two bird nests hidden inside the chimney chamber, one around 2 metres up and another near the top.

Both nests removed, followed by a standard sweep and then CCTV inspection to make sure the chimney was clear and ready for the installer to drop the chimney liner down for the customers new wood burner stove.

🔥🐦‍⬛The things you find in chimneys🔥

This wood burning stove owner lit their stove for the first time this Autumn only to find smoke coming back into the room.

The cause? A bird had become trapped in the flue and sadly died, leaving the chimney blocked.

I safely removed the bird carcass, carried out a full chimney sweep and finished with CCTV to check the flue is clear and ready for use.

Alastair arrived on time as agreed....swept the chimney but also spotted a couple of small issues with our log burner which were sorted as part of the sweep! Absolutely fantastic service. See you next October and thank you.

🔥🍂My first burn of Autumn🍂🔥
I always use the top down lighting method and here's why⬇️

By lighting from the top, the fire warms the flue quickly, establishing a good draw while producing minimal smoke, helping to reduce emissions into the environment.

✅ Warms the flue and establishes a strong draw.
✅ Produces less smoke during lighting.
✅ Helps the fire reach operating temperature quickly and efficiently.

How to do it,

1. Place your larger logs at the bottom.
2. Add smaller logs and kindling on top.
3. Place your firelighter on top.
4. Light from the top and allow the fire to establish.
