NOT THIS AGAIN!!!!
I often hear the sad story of people being ripped off by unscrupulous tradesmen. Unfortunately, this makes it harder for honest tradespeople like me to gain the trust of potential customers. To help you avoid being taken advantage of, here are a few tips:
- Ask your friends for recommendations and only consider tradespeople who have done good work for them.
- Do some research and read reviews before deciding who to hire. If a business has more bad reviews than good ones, it's likely a warning sign.
- Ask to see some previous work before hiring someone. A reputable tradesperson will be happy to show you examples of their work.
- Request quotes from two or three different tradespeople to ensure you're getting a fair price. Keep in mind that quality work and service usually come at a higher cost, and be respectful of the time others are investing in providing you with a quote.
- Be specific about your expectations and agree on payment terms before work begins. I recommend not paying in full until the job is complete and you're satisfied with the work.
Good communication can prevent many problems, so be clear with your tradesperson about what you want. Most of us tradespeople are just trying to do quality work and provide for our families, and we want to earn your trust. By following these steps, you can find a trustworthy tradesperson who will do a great job for you.
