Extension Questions Answered — Part 6 🏡

“Can I stay living in my house while the extension is being built?”

The short answer: in most cases, yes.

A lot of homeowners worry that having an extension means moving out for months, but that often isn’t necessary.

For much of the build, the new extension can be worked on separately from the main living space.

The more disruptive stage usually comes when we need to break through into the existing house and connect the old space to the new.

If you’re having a new kitchen fitted, there may also be a short period where your usual kitchen isn’t fully usable.

Good planning makes a huge difference.

At Four Oaks Builders, we organise the build to reduce disruption as much as possible, including:

* Keeping the existing house separated from the build where practical
* Protecting floors and existing finishes
* Managing dust and mess
* Keeping safe access through the property
* Coordinating trades so the job keeps moving
* Giving you notice before the more disruptive stages
