Just a brief update on the progress at Masefield. A meeting has recently taken place at the garden between the engineers, tree surgeons and contractors.

They are looking into the safest method of removing the tree stumps, roots etc to prevent further ground collapse. And to then construct a retaining wall which an engineer has to design/approve the scheme.

Good news to share.

We have a plot at Hay Green Allotments. Which will keep us busy whilst we wait for Masefield to be reopened.

We've made some good progress on the plot with the help of our dedicated volunteers. We have a couple of sessions on the 12th and 26th April from 11:00am to 14:00pm.

Also, on the Saturday 3rd May from 11:00am to 15:30pm. Will be the Rhubarb Fayre at the allotments. All produce, especially of a rhubarb nature, would be most welcomed. There will lots to sell.

Hope to see you there.

We just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the support and kind words we have received following the recent incident at Masefield.

We have experienced a few setbacks these last few months. But we are determined to come back from this and get back to the garden.

We are devastated.
Among everything else, the earth oven is likely damaged beyond repair and the apple trees are all burned. 😭😭😭😭😭

We've been (hopefully) temporarily closed since the retaining wall fell. We're waiting for Birmingham council to repair it and let us back in🀞

However, you may have seen posts on social media about a fire near Bunbury Road this week. Sadly, it was our beautiful garden being vandalised again 😒
Our plastic bottle greenhouse and earth oven shelter have been utterly destroyed. Those two structures were some of the first ever built on the site when we opened over 10 years ago.

We are truly devastated πŸ’”

need to hurry up and secure the wall so we can open again and welcome back our community before vandals ensure there's nothing left.

A belated Happy New Year to you all.

There is a quarterly meeting scheduled for Saturday 18th January at 10.45am. It will be held at Ecobirmingham, 53 Church Road, Northfield, B31 2LB.

At the meeting there will preliminary information and a progress report regarding our communication with Birmingham City Council with regards to the temporary closure of the garden.

Friends and Supporters of Masefield are more than welcome to attend the meeting and we hope to see you there.

Regrettably, the Apple Day event scheduled for this year has been cancelled. Upon arrival on site yesterday by our volunteers, it was found that a retaining wall had collapsed, so for safety reasons, Birmingham City Council has closed the garden while they assess the damage and a resolution to the issue.

Currently, the garden is inaccessible and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We will issue further updates as more information becomes available.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We really want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has backed our crowdfunding campaign. Your support means a lot us. The funds we've raised will be dedicated to creating the sensory garden and pavilion project, which we believe will make a significant impact in our community.

A special shoutout goes to our volunteer, Kim, who played a crucial role in bringing our crowdfunding page to life.

Thanks again to everyone for your generosity and support; we can't wait to see this project come to fruition!

The Garden was broken into and set fire to a large part of the children's area. We want to rebuild the area as part of a new sensory garden.
