Points to consider when purchasing a charging unit that will affect the installation cost:
✅ Generally cheaper units will take a lot longer to charge your vehicle, could be around 12 hours.
✅ Generally cheaper units do not incorporate Dynamic charging – This is so that you don’t overload your electricity and your main fuse when other items are being used in your property
✅ Cheaper units do not always integrate with smart apps which give you up to date charging information enabling you to charge your vehicle at cheaper rates.
✅. Some units look a lot more aesthetically pleasing - Think about where you will be installing unit.
✅ Limited cable lengths to your vehicle
✅. Type and length of tethered cable required for the vehicle.
✅. Do you need an earth rood installing - Minor digging works 😳
✅ If you do not have spare capacity in your distribution board (fuse board) you may need an upgrade.
Cost 💷
We are a transparent business when it comes to costs. You will see a lot of advertisements with options of charging units starting from around £400.00. (This takes into account you being eligible for a government OLEV Grant which is currently £350.00), therefore the actual cost starts around £750.00 for a very basic charger with typically a 12 hour charge time. 😳 😩
A typical installation cost for our customers taking into consideration all the bullet points above is as follows:
✅ Home - £800 - £1,000 per unit
✅ Workplace - £800 - £2,000 per unit
You should use an OLEV approved installer as specific training is required for these installations – generally OLEV installers should also be NICEIC or NAPIT approved also.
