This week, our team has commenced Phase 1 of a large labour-only contract in Bicester.

SN Carpentry & Fire Doors Ltd is providing on-site management alongside a dedicated team of four experienced carpenters, delivering:

Another Day, Another great Fire Door Install by the team 🚪😊

This project involved resolving an existing double swing door set and replacing it with a new sign-action double fire door set, improving functionality, compliance and day-to-day usability for the end user.

Lets talk about Door Closers 🗣️

Choosing the right door closer isn’t just about the door 🚪 — it’s about the people using it 👥

Too often, closers are selected based on door type alone. But the building and environment matter just as much.

🏥 Care Homes & Healthcare

In environments with elderly or vulnerable users, this is critical.
👉 A cam action door closer (EN 1154 compliant) is usually the best option:
- Low opening force 💪
- Smooth, controlled closing
- Adjustable speed (to prevent slamming)

⚠️ We recently attended a project where a fast-closing door had been installed in a care setting. An elderly resident had their fingers trapped. Thankfully it wasn’t a serious injury — but it easily could have been.

Great to complete this installation of a bespoke double timber doorset, helping to create a clear division within an open-plan space.

As part of the project, we formed a new bulkhead above the doors to fully close off the opening, delivering a clean and seamless finish. The end result separates the reception area from the rest of the floor, improving both functionality and privacy while maintaining the overall look of the space.

With our work now complete, it’s over to the decorators to carry out the finishing touches and bring everything together.
