You don’t always see a boiler problem — until you open it up.
Today’s service visit turned up:
Problem 1: Burner seal split
A damaged burner seal can allow products of combustion to escape internally. That’s not something you want happening inside your boiler casing. Left unchecked, it can lead to products of combustion leaking into your house including carbon monoxide.
Problem 2: Electrodes worn out
These are responsible for ignition and flame detection. When they’re worn or deteriorated, you can get unreliable lighting, lockouts, or complete breakdowns — usually at the worst possible time.🥶
Both issues sorted during the service ✔️ Boiler now running safely and efficiently again.
This is exactly why an annual boiler service isn’t just a “tick the box” job — it’s about catching small problems before they turn into expensive repairs or worse (or no heating when you need it most❄️).
