𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗻.

Colin passed away peacefully at Osprey Court Care Home, Alyth, on 25th April 2026.

Colin was at the heart of Charles Davidson & Son for many years, running the business as his father Charles had before him, before handing it over to his son Gordon.

Originally from Ballachraggan, Glenshee, the business first operated there before the family moved to Markethill, Kettins in the 1980s, where it continues today.

Even after his retirement, Colin remained a familiar and much-valued presence at the yard — helping with deliveries, greeting the team in the mornings, and always happy to lend a hand with the day-to-day running of things. He was well known for his warmth, kindness and quiet support, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Our thoughts are with Gordon and all the family at this difficult time.

A funeral service will be held at Sillerburn Cemetery, Kirkmichael, on Monday, 18th May at 11:30am, followed by a gathering at the Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus, at approximately 12:45pm. All family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Busy week for the team as we sign off on the drainage on a big project we've been working on throughout August, September and the first week of October. There's been a few challenges on the way, including old pipes from a decommissioned waterworks. The properties also now have non-return valves and a flap valve installed on the outflow from the newly installed septic tank, as the area has a history of flooding. Now for a final push on groundworks and landscaping, including coping on a retaining wall, paving, and tar works 😎

** THEFT – ALYTH - INFORMATION SOUGHT **

Overnight on 20th-21st August, our storage container on a building site at St Ninian’s Road, in Alyth, Perthshire, was broken into, and various items were stolen.

If you are offered any of these items, please contact us:

* Husqvarna Stihl Saw, 350mm
* Rotary laser level
* Petrol water pump
* Toolbox "top box" with drainage pressure testing kit and bungs

We use this equipment in our daily work, and theft like this is disruptive, expensive and disheartening. It’s difficult to claim on insurance because of high excesses and exclusions, and it can put up insurance for local people too, as risk for the area increases.

A reward is offered for information leading to return of our property. Information supplied can be treated confidentially. Please message us or call 0796 7777281.

The theft has been reported to the police. If you live in the area, please let us or the police know if you saw or heard anything suspicious overnight, and please check your doorbell or CCTV footage.
