A little behind the scenes from one of our recent measured site surveys in North Cornwall 📐🏡

Before any design ideas, remodelling concepts, or development proposals begin, it all starts with understanding the existing building.

This survey data will now head back to the studio where we’ll reproduce the property in AutoCAD to create a precise set of existing floor plans ready for the next stage of the project.

For less complex schemes, measured surveys like this can be a highly efficient alternative to full laser scanning with GPS and topographical data, while still giving us the accuracy needed to move confidently into the design phase.

It’s great to see this acoustic boundary fence now being installed by Jata Construction.

As part of the planning conditions for the site, an acoustic fence was required along the boundary to help protect neighbouring residential properties from the day-to-day operational noise of the commercial development.

A perfect example of how thoughtful design and planning can help commercial and residential spaces successfully coexist.

Sorry we’ve been a little MIA recently…

Last week we had the exciting opportunity to support Mac systems Ltd, where we were based at their headquarters in Wellingborough helping bring this impressive custom cantilever sliding gate project to life.

Our role involved producing detailed CAD drawings for fabrication, working closely with the team to turn the concept into reality.

Safe to say it’s been great seeing the project taking shape — and no, don’t worry… they didn’t let us loose with a welder just yet! 😂

These photos show some of our fabrication drawings alongside the gate part-way through production, ready to be galvanised.

We don’t just cover planning applications and building regulations, we support all manner of architectural and technical design projects too.

Some of you may recognise the view… back on this site in North Cornwall today as we continue developing this exciting project.

Great to be onsite again with Rebecca from Coast to Country Town Planning and Zoe from Zoe Claymore Garden Design, working collaboratively to move things forward.

This scheme brings together a number of different elements, and having the right expertise involved at every stage is key.

With strong planning knowledge helping to shape the strategy from the outset, the design can evolve in a way that is both creative and realistic.

It is very much a joined up process where planning informs the design, giving our client the best possible chance of a successful outcome.

Always rewarding to be back on site, seeing the context first hand and refining the vision as a team.

The weather behaved for once so we made the most of it and got out on site this morning in North Cornwall to check foundations alongside Building Control for sign off.

The trenches have been inspected to make sure they are clean, well prepared, and sitting on suitable load bearing strata ready for the next stage. Not the most glamorous part of a build, but definitely the most important.

It is always satisfying to see how quickly things move on site. The first photo shows where we were just last week following the strip of topsoil, and the others show progress today just ahead of the concrete pour. Amazing what a few days can do.

This project is being delivered in collaboration with Jata Construction & Jata Connections providing a full service from building regulations drawings package through to construction and sign off by Building Control.

Looking forward to seeing the next phase take shape.

𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 – 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹

We attended site for our ongoing Cornish farmhouse restoration project, meeting with the client, contractor, and structural engineer to review progress and coordinate the next stages of works.

The farmhouse has now been carefully taken back to its bare structure, allowing us to fully assess the condition of the main building fabric prior to its restoration.

Externally, the existing render is currently being removed to expose the original stonework. This will allow the masonry to dry out before repairs are carried out and the walls are re-pointed using traditional lime mortar, ensuring the building can breathe naturally and perform as intended.

Internally, significant enabling works have been completed. All ground floor walls have been removed and the floor has been excavated in preparation for a new insulated floor slab, improving both thermal performance and long-term comfort within the property.

As a result of these works, we now have a clear understanding of the building’s structure and can move forward with confidence into the next stage of the restoration process.

We were recently invited back by our clients to enjoy their new kitchen and day room now it’s in use, and this is exactly what it was designed for… bringing people together.

Delivered in collaboration with Jata Construction & Jata Connections, this extension blends natural external materials with a warm, functional interior space, creating a seamless addition to the home.

While the external render is still awaiting its final coat due to the weather, we couldn’t wait to share this stage with you.
