A linked space extension that bonds old farmhouse and new form into one seamless structure 🌿

Full-height glazing dissolves the boundary, drawing daylight deep into the interior and allowing views to pass cleanly through the extension itself. At its heart, a bespoke oak-clad staircase becomes a crafted focal point, defined by precise shadow gaps and discreet hidden LED lighting. A refined metal handrail, fixed with concealed brackets, has been carefully detailed to sit between the oak cladding, keeping the composition calm and uninterrupted.

The rhythm of the oak continues beyond the staircase, running along the floor and rising into the balustrade, gently guiding you from the farmhouse into the new space.

The existing stonework has been repointed and revived, with new stone introduced to extend the material story indoors. The result is a continuous stone flow that wraps around the window reveals, blurring inside and out in a quiet, natural dialogue 🪨✨

This bespoke stone windowsill was commissioned to give the impression of a solid stone wall - and completely transform the space.

Each piece was precisely cut to a 40mm depth, with the bottom course mitred to act as a keystone, locking the upper stones neatly into place. A small detail, but one that makes all the difference.

Set within a south-facing window, the natural light now spills across the surface, catching the edges of each stone and bringing texture, depth and movement to the stairwell throughout the day.

A huge upgrade from the original flat MDF cill - and a perfect example of how thoughtful detailing can elevate a space.

Back to a familiar address, giving a well-loved project a fresh update.

A full rethink of the space is underway, introducing a new floating staircase with oak treads and glass balustrade, alongside brighter windows and doors to lift what was once a darker interior. The lounge now features a grooved ceiling in place of plasterboard, while existing oak floors have been carefully sanded and finished with a soft white oil.

Elsewhere, it’s a complete refresh…new joinery throughout, tiled ceilings removed, a new shower room installed, and ceilings skimmed with lime plastered walls to add depth and texture. All electrics and lighting are being upgraded to tie everything together.

A quiet transformation in progress, with plenty more to come.

The new fire pit is now complete, designed with a dual function: creating a defined seating area while also retaining water to protect the house during heavy rainfall.

Seating has been carefully crafted from 50mm thick granite and setts, arranged in a precise circular pattern to define the space. A lower wall provides additional seating where needed.

Pathways have been laid using granite setts and stepping stone slabs, following the natural contours of the house, with chippings to be added for a clean, finished surface.
With careful attention to detail and high-quality materials, every element is both functional and durable, reflecting skilled workmanship in external works.

With the steel frame now in place, the space is really starting to take shape. Vaulted ceilings are being formed, opening up the interior and creating a stunning sense of height. Carefully placed windows will bring in plenty of natural light, enhancing the airy, open feel.

The steel structure means we can move quickly - installed in just three days - allowing the timber walls and roof to follow without delay. It also makes those dramatic vaulted spans possible.

Outside, a partially covered terrace is taking form, designed to be a versatile space all year round. Hidden guttering keeps the clean, architectural lines of the home uninterrupted.

Now the structure is up, it’s easier to appreciate how the space will feel.

The building features red zinc fascia carefully installed around its perimeter, a complex task that required following the curvature of the structure while ensuring precise alignment and consistent positioning from every viewpoint.

The combination of red zinc with Celtic rustic-faced stone creates a striking visual contrast. Our expert stonemasons meticulously constructed each wall, stone by stone, with over 100 square meters of stone used on the exterior alone.
