The first compactor ever manufactured in the UK was a top loading portable unit designed to mimic the operation of a refuse vehicle and the concept was keenly adopted within the waste industry with Hales Waste being the first waste contractor to introduce the concept to their customer base. as quickly followed by other contractors, however the first units were purchased by Westminster City Council and the Saudi Royal Family which allowed the company to expand quickly into the offshore market and introduce the first Static Compactors thereafter, by 1980 Len Gamblin was running the Company and the Lennox House Group was formed.
