The Countryside Alliance has won an important reassurance for rural households that rely on wood-burning stoves for heat. 🔥
After raising concerns directly with the government, it has now been confirmed that existing stoves will not be forced to be upgraded or replaced under current proposals. For many countryside and off-grid homes, wood burners are not a lifestyle choice, but a practical, affordable necessity.
This is a positive outcome, and it shows why rural voices matter in policy making. The direction of travel on emissions policy is something we’ll continue watching closely, to ensure future changes are practical, fair and rooted in rural reality.
