Laminate Floor Replacement / Repair.
Been back to a job we completed over 18months ago to help the client resolve an issue with the installed LVT flooring.
Unfortunately a batch of the flooring the client supplied and we laid had a manufacturing defect in the product.
This resulted in the LVT flooring becoming extremely brittle, loosing its ability to naturally expand / contract when exposed to normal sunlight / temperature changes within the room
The product the client bought "wasn't cheap" and marketed as suitable for high traffic areas, kitchens, hallways and all general living spaces
Within 5 months of laying, the floor begin to fail, beginning with joints in the kitchen area starting to separate / crack / lift.
Th flooring became so brittle you could literally break off sections with minimal effort
After a rather lengthy battle with the suppler / manufacturer in question "culminating with the client threatening legal action"
the supplier admitted liability, supplying them with replacement matching flooring, along with compensation for the inconvenience
In the end we removed 2/3rds of the existing kitchen flooring, which required plinths, panels and appliance in the kitchen area to be removed, new underly had to be laid and then everything to be re-installed
Fortunately there wasn't much colour differences in the new batch of flooring supplied and it blended in nicely with the existing.
The client was over very pleased and grateful for our help and was very relieved knowing the issue had final been resolved. 😎👌
