The long hot summer drought has taken its toll to all lawns! 🌿
Now that the rain has returned, your lawn is ready to recover—but a layer of dead thatch and moss will block water and nutrients from reaching the roots. And we are entering the window to start the work.

I can provide this service for you if you get in touch and send me a message.

What is scarifying?
Scarifying breathes life into otherwise tired lawns.
If your lawn has developed lots of bare patches or moss, you probably need to scarify it. Scarifying a lawn is simply the process of removing dead thatch (the brown material found in the lawn). A small amount of thatch is a good thing in lawns, but in large quantities, it can prevent the growth of new grass, prevent water and nutrients from reaching the roots, and encourage moss to form.

It can look unsightly initially but if you trust the process you'll have a lush, green lawn in no time.

When should you scarify a lawn?
Scarify your lawn in spring and/or early autumn, ideally once a year, to keep the lawn in good shape.

After scarifying and aerating, I can help you to apply fertiliser to boost lawn growth or leave it to recover on its own, but it will definitely be healthier for a good annual scarifying.

Some of the hedge work from this week in and around East Keswick, Collingham and Bardsey.

With a bit of rain, the grass will now start to recover. And plans for lawn renovations will begin.

Biiiiig clear out. 🫠🔥🌡️

Brambles have taken over this small planted area. With almost all of the shrubs hidden.

Thankfully, gauntlet gloves were invented 👏

Some hedge work from a couple of jobs over the weekend in Boston Spa and Collingham.

A reduction in height of the pivot hedge in the front garden.

Followed by a large hedge and shrub tidy. Sharp lines and tidy edges stand out as you approach the house.

Recently completed jobs.

Large and overgrown hedge cut back in Wetherby.

A garden that's been unattended for some time brought back under control with hedges and shrubs cut in Collingham.

A shape up of a Hawthorne hedge line in Boston spa.

Spreading some bark chip into borders in Collingham. Hopefully will retain a bit of moisture and suppress weeds growth.

A large boundary hedge cut and shrubs shaped in bickerton.

And in Wetherby. Rescuing this lovely red Acer from a very much overgrown and well established climber.
