šØš ļø A Message for Customers & Fellow Tradespeople
Letās be honest⦠if you walked into work tomorrow and found out your boss had quietly reduced your wages, youād be shocked. Youād feel undervalued. Youād probably question why your hard work suddenly meant less.
So why is it acceptable to do that to tradespeople?
Painters, decorators, builders, plumbers, sparkies ā weāre not just turning up with a brush or a toolbox. Weāre turning up with:
- years of experience
- thousands spent on tools
- rising material costs
- fuel, insurance, training
- and the responsibility of running a business
Many of us chose to be sole traders, yes ā but that doesnāt mean we work less. If anything, we work twice as hard. We donāt get paid holidays, sick pay, or guaranteed income. We work the job and run the business behind it.
To customers:
When you ask a tradesperson to drop their price, itās the equivalent of asking someone in a regular job to take a pay cut. Not because the work changed ā but because you felt like it. Most people wouldnāt accept that in their own workplace.
To fellow tradespeople:
Keep valuing your time, your skill, and your craftsmanship. Donāt shrink your worth to fit someone elseās budget. Quality work deserves fair pay.
Respect the trade.
Respect the graft.
Respect the people who keep your homes and businesses looking their best
