Yesterday's job sort out a 12 year old FIT system, armed with the latest Fluke GFL1500, within a couple of hours we had mapped out all the strings on the room, found the dead set of parallel strings, 2x strings of 23 panels, 46x panels not been working for years, lost revenue, expected to find a burnt out Y connector, after tracing strings and mapping we knew exactly where to look, liked the panel found the burn mark, repaired the burnt connector and replaced some of the effected surrounding connectors.
While up there tidied up loose cables found laid on the roof.
Advised customer that none of the MC4 connectors were correctly secured and this work ought to be done as its the cause of this failure.
Could do with a wash too.
With out this tested, stripping all panels off, testing, confirming string lay out, could have been there days rather than just a morning.
