If you sell infrared heating, you’ve probably heard a few of these before…

Ben tackles 3 of the most common misconceptions we come across.

Are there any others we should add to the list?

Heating a listed church is never quite straightforward.

At St Margaret of Antioch church, we needed to heat the space while working around the existing architecture and keeping fixing points to a minimum.

Charli talks through the project and one of the solutions we came up with for those rather impressive arches.

Who spent it better?

Listed arches and nowhere to fix the heaters.

At St Margaret of Antioch, bespoke brackets allowed the infrared heaters to be suspended between the pillars without fixing directly to the historic arches.

Solid stone, huge ceilings and very little heat retention. St Mary’s in Piercebridge was never going to be an easy building to heat.

We showed you the finished installation last week. Here’s Charli explaining why infrared made sense and how we put the heat where it was actually needed.

Beautiful building....but not the easiest to heat

St Mary’s in Piercebridge needed gentle background warmth day to day, with the option to turn things up before services and events.

Eight Vector infrared heaters now cover the nave and chancel, without competing with the character of the church.

There was also a small lesson involving fresh paint along the way…

How do you heat a zoo? Not a question Charli gets every day…

From rhinos and antelopes to the slightly more ordinary, infrared heating can work in all sorts of places you might not immediately think of.

And yes, Charli is particularly well suited to the animal related surveys!

Which zoo animal do you think would be the hardest to keep warm?

£7,000 a year on energy…and the church still isn’t comfortably warm.

Charli has been in Hadfield today, looking at a church that can no longer replace its gas boiler as the diocese works towards net zero.

With damp, condensation and a huge nave to consider, it isn’t simply a case of choosing another heating system. It’s about protecting the building, warming the areas people actually use and giving the church much better control.

This is the sort of challenge Charli comes across every day, and one she genuinely enjoys getting stuck into.
