New home owner inherited a large safe with their new property. They had no use for it and asked us to remove and dispose of the beast. We were the 3rd company to attend to this emergency lock out job. The first 2 companies arrived. They both advised that the lock would need to be drilled and replaced. Costs ranging from £400-£550. The customer told them both to leave, and then contacted myself. The lock was picked open within 5 mins of my arrival. No drilling and no unnecessary replacement lock charges. Total cost to the customer was £114 inc vat. Skilled locksmiths are generally cheaper than unskilled locksmiths, as we are able to complete the work quicker, and without unnecessary lock changes. I was contacted by a customer in Windsor. He explained that the builder/carpenter had started to install a nightlatch and wasn’t able to complete the job. My first job today was to make this composite slam shut door, a bit more user friendly. Many home owners struggle with the cylinder operation, with these doors. Using a thumb turn to retract the central latch, with top and bottom hooks, is asking a lot. Installing a lever handle makes things much easier.
