THE FACE BEHIND THE NAME 👋
I’m Danny, and I’m the man behind Dan the Sprayed Concrete Man — and the owner of Apex Sprayed Concrete.
I actually started out in the family business straight from school at 16, spraying concrete and building swimming pools. If I’m honest, I wasn’t exactly built for the building site… and I certainly wasn’t passionate about it! But I was interested in earning money and, even more so, pursuing my real passion - Muay Thai.
I first started training when I was around 7 but it wasn’t until my late teens I started taking it seriously. At 21, I moved to Thailand to train and chase the dream of becoming a world champion. Throughout my 20s, I spent my time balancing work in the family business with training and travelling between the UK and Thailand, before eventually leaving the business altogether to pursue Muay Thai full-time.
At age 28 I reached my goal of becoming a World Champion 🏆 what next?
I have a real passion for house music and I decided to learn how to DJ, and, like everything else I’ve really put my mind to, I threw myself into it. I ended up DJing at Ministry of Sound in London and things were looking exciting…then came covid 💀
I had to decide what came next, so I returned to what I knew — sprayed concrete.
By then, I’d spent more than a decade learning the trade. I’d started operating the concrete pump at 16, moved onto the nozzle a couple of years later and was leading spray teams on projects in my early 20s. Along the way, I’d also had the opportunity to work on some pretty cool projects, including work connected to the London 2012 Olympic Games, Network Rail projects and high-end hotels and commercial leisure facilities.
At 31, after having my first child, I decided it was time to step away from the family business and build something of my own.
That’s when Apex Sprayed Concrete was born.
Being someone that doesn’t do things by halves as you can tell. If i decide i want to do something I’ll put the work in and see how far I can take it.
That’s exactly the mindset I have with Apex, and this is only the beginning 💪🏻
