Last October, at the inaugural I listened to a very important talk from about the chemical flame retardants used in the UK furniture industry.

I was already aware that these chemicals were used, but I had no idea quite how bad the situation was. Delyth delivered this talk to around 150–200 upholsterers, most of whom were in a similar position to me. What she shared was so shocking and moving that the whole room was in tears, and she received a very well-deserved standing ovation.

After 7 years of hard work campaigning against the use of toxic chemicals, it finally feels like change may be happening. The government has now launched a consultation proposing major reforms to bring the UK in line with the rest of the world.

This matters to all of us, because it affects everyone. Please respond to the consultation if you can. We need to make sure chemical lobby groups do not drown out the voices of the people this really impacts. Link in bio
