In photos, they look almost identical. No door to step over, sleek glass, that open spa feel. But a wetroom and a walk-in shower are built completely differently, and that changes everything from cost to who can actually have one.
A true wetroom is fully tanked. The entire floor is waterproofed and gently sloped so water drains from anywhere in the room. Beautiful, level-access, and brilliant for open-plan layouts or anyone designing with accessibility in mind. It does need a proper structural assessment first though, especially on upper floors.
A walk-in shower is a different beast. You get a low-profile tray with glass panels, the same clean look, but it's far easier to retrofit into a standard bathroom. Less disruption, quicker install, and it works in most homes across the North West without major structural changes.
Neither is better. It honestly comes down to your floor structure, the space you're working with, and how you want to live in the room.
