More shocking have a go nonsense, this time with edpm in a property in Ilfracombe. This lady’s entire roof has been covered in this 4 years ago, totalling an area of over 100M. As per usual with these day course if your lucky people, anything that required detail and cutting of the membrane has been uttetly bodged, resulting in a death trap roof that’s rotted out to nothing in 4 years, due to
It leaking right from the very start. The so called roofer has run with the money, and won’t answer phone calls .Please research who you use ,to install the most important aspect of your property. Poor roof… ruined house.

First few pictures is a typical example of a modern warm
Roof construction. Aluminium vapour barrier, 150mm TR27 torchable, traffic able insulation boards , then in this case a 3mm first layer. The top layer will be added when the builder finishes the rest of the roof construction. This is a true warm roof, with all the timber below the insulation. If a top timber board is added, that is not a true warm roof. You have no mechanical fixings in this system either, so zero change of thermal transfer ,causing cold spots and sweating like we see so
Often with other wafer thin, badly installed products ,fitted by people who don’t understand how a roof reacts thermally ,through different conditions.

It’s actually 60 years since JBG flat roofing began operating in the North Devon area. But our families association with flat roofing began soon after WW2.My father, his brother and other family members ,traveled where the work was ,rebuilding the country after the war. My father started flat roofing in 1948, and after moving around various companies, he joined his brother in North Devon , in Braunton , where the company remains to this day, with his sons carrying on the flat roofing tradition.Here are my Dads work cards , and his contract of employment when he was a foreman for Ruberoid in 1964.My father and his brother ,worked for over 50 years each in flat roofing,before my brother and myself took over in the early 90s. My brother has 51 years invested in JBG , with myself 37 years. Truly two generations ,of lifelong flat roofers

We are constantly asked by clients why we only use modern built up 3 layer torch on flat roofs only , and not the other systems available including Glass fibre(GRP), single ply and edpm rubber roofs. And the answer is we will never compromise on the quality and longevity of our work. On a weekly basis I am constantly having to replace these so called “modern” alternatives. This is a combination of these systems being applied by people who have literally completed a day course to be approved to use these materials , or inferior products bought over the counter at builders merchants , who will push these products as DIY capable. So many variables exist that your inexperienced installer will have little or no idea about. Just make sure you research the product and the contractor ,to make sure you are getting a quality team and system.The roof on your property is the most important part of your entire building, so make sure you are employing people who know the trade.

A modern high spec, large extension, featuring a true warm roof living area,incorporating 150mm of solid insulation for high U value . A novel use of a cold roof overhang round the perimeter drawn by the architect, to keep the visual build up of the facia minimalistic for improved aesthetic visually.
