Another great transformation completed 🔨🏡

We’ve removed the old stone wall between the kitchen and living room to create a much more open and modern living space.

As this was a supporting wall, 3 RSJs were installed on concrete pads to ensure the structure is fully supported and safe.

There's something special about working with lime on a curved wall—it's a process that really makes you slow down and respect the material.

The prep is everything. First, two coats of NHL 3.5 lime render are applied to bring the uneven stonework back into line and create a solid, workable base. Once that's set, 40mm of wood fiber insulation is fixed, following the curve and adding both performance and depth to the wall.

From there, a coat of hemp-lime is applied and carefully floated out, building up the surface while keeping everything breathable and flexible. The finish is a lime putty top coat, worked patiently to suit the curve and bring out that soft, natural texture lime is known for.

It's not a rushed process—every stage builds on the last—but the result is a wall that not only looks right but works with the building for years to come.

We’d like to let our customers and followers know that Edwards Plastering is now trading as Edwards Building & Renovations.

For over 30 years, we’ve been carrying out full restorations, extensions, heritage work, and complete renovations — not just plastering. While plastering has always been a core part of what we do (and something we’re very proud of), our work has long gone far beyond this.

For more than 30 years, we have worked side by side with Michael Gormley on a wide range of projects, including full restorations, extensions, and heritage properties. This long-standing working relationship reflects the level of trust, experience, and quality we bring to every job.

We also have a real passion and depth of knowledge in heritage and restoration work, including traditional methods such as lime plastering, sympathetic repairs, and working with period properties, ensuring work is carried out properly and respectfully.

We’ve decided to change our name to better clarify the full range of services we offer, as we’re not just plasterers — we’re experienced builders delivering complete projects from start to finish.

It’s the same team, the same standards, and the same commitment to quality workmanship — just a name that better reflects who we are today.
