Thurrock Civic Centre, clad in Mechslip brick slip.

The new 3-storey Civic Centre, designed by LSI Architects and built by Kier Construction (Eastern) for Thurrock Council incorporates a Council Chamber, cafe, registrar service, staff offices, committee rooms and service area for the public. The Civic Offices kickstart huge regeneration plans for the town of Grays.

The brick detailing includes recessed and soldier course panels of brickwork, vertical stretcher bond to 135deg chamfered portico columns, and stepped headers forming a 20mm chequerboard pattern around the parapet.

The Mechslip was supplied by Aquarian Cladding Systems.

Creating Curves at Grange Paddocks
Vertical faceting is conventional. Horizontal curves are exceptional.
Those timber curves became a team passion!

A2O are pleased to have worked with Willmott Dixon and Saunders Boston Architects for East Herts Council to install the SFS and timber cladding on this £22m new leisure centre, set within a large park. The new centre offers a large fitness suite, 2 studios, an 8-lane competition pool, teaching pool and confidence pool, with a café opening on to the park.

The larch cladding, which weathers naturally to a silver grey was supplied by Bennetts Timber.

The stunning freeform Leisure Centre is the result of 79 weeks of hard work through COVID!

The £37m Wi******er Sports & Leisure Park is now open for business - and the façades look stunning.

A2O's cladding contract covered TerrArt ceramic tiles to the ground floor and dramatic ceramic baguettes over the glazing. Translucent polycarbonate, Danpatherm K7, to the first floor gym gives diffuse light during the day and lights up the façade from within at night.

Apprentice James Mates did a great job as Assistant Site Manager.😊
