The careful remodel, extension and alteration of an Arts and Crafts style home, originally commissioned by local artists Henry and Isobel Morley.
The project incorporates a zinc clad upper floor extension, creating a new upper floor room. The former artists studio which was damp and cold has been carefully converted into a warm, dry heated space, with a new wrap around wall to roof glazed screen, replacing an old leaking screen, providing lots of daylight to the large studio space and access to the garden.
An angled garden extension is introduced to push the kitchen into the garden space, with angled views taking in all of the garden, featuring a zinc roof.
The design carefully retains the existing lines of the gable of the house, creating minimal interventions to these, working with zinc, creating interesting angles.
This project has completely transformed the family home, opening up the main public spaces to the garden, connecting them to one another and creating a much brighter, spacious living space, along with much needed additional accommodation and living areas, created from upgraded, unused spaces.
The extension and alterations are linked to the garden through completion of patio areas, garden steps and landscaping works.
