Another project coming together beautifully in Meopham, situated directly opposite one of our other ongoing projects.

There is something particularly rewarding about seeing a building at this stage. We all appreciate the polished photographs at the end of a project—the finished kitchen, carefully selected materials and final decorative details—but for us, this stage represents much of what our work is really about.

The construction phase is where the drawings are tested in the real world. It is where the accuracy of the information, the clarity of the details and the coordination between different elements of the building become genuinely important. Seeing the structure successfully brought together provides an opportunity to reflect on how well our construction drawings have communicated the design and supported everyone responsible for delivering it on site.

The final craftsmanship and finishing touches will rightly belong to the contractors and tradespeople carrying out that work. Our responsibility is to help get the building structurally resolved, weatherproof and successfully through its most technically demanding stages—ready for those finishing touches to begin.

We've brought together the drawings, construction photographs and drone footage to show that relationship between information on the page and progress on site. For us, this is what it is all about.

Biodiversity Net Gain has changed — but what does that actually mean for small developers?

From 6 August 2026, developments on sites of 0.2 hectares or less are exempt from mandatory BNG, subject to important exceptions around priority habitat.

A welcome move towards proportionality — but exemption from BNG doesn’t mean exemption from ecological responsibility.

We’ve broken down the changes, what they mean in practice, and why biodiversity should ultimately be designed in rather than treated as another box to tick.

Build update - Hurstpierpoint

Take a look at this timber frame/clad rear extension on screw piles constructed by .bear. The Sapele hardwood cladding looks warm and ties in nicely with the red brick/tiles. The warm-wall construction (insulation over studs) provides a continuous thermal envelope and prevents cold bridging.

As we move forward into an ever changing economic, social and political landscape, Cadguys will be focussing more towards technical design and building regulation packages for construction.

We’ve found that we now have more architectural design and construction companies outsourcing to us than private individuals.

This system allows you to offset the difficult, time consuming detailing to us whilst you focus on stages 1-3 and securing more projects. We use your formatting, logos, line-weights and text styles so you retain consistent branding and drawing style.
