Storm Goretti left a mark on Cornwall, and I want to print it.
Since January 10th, I’ve been collecting tree rings from trees that fell in the recent storms, gathering stories, memories, and connections held within the grain. I currently have 35 rings (still looking for more), each one from a different Cornish tree, each one with a story rooted in place.
The plan is to exhibit the prints alongside information about where each tree grew, and wherever possible, the stories people share about them. Trees have always been meeting places for communities. I want them to continue being meeting places, even after they’ve fallen.
I shared the project on pages and a lot of people got back to me. Sharing sadness. Sharing memories. Sharing a desire to see this project through
The BBC have featured the project on Radio Cornwall and there’s a couple other exciting things coming out soon. There’s momentum. There’s public interest. There’s an opportunity to make something beautiful from devastation.
What there isn’t… is funding.
I’m not asking for donations. I’m offering something in return.
By sponsoring the project, you’ll receive an original handmade print from a tree fallen in Storm Goretti. These prints will be exhibited as part of the wider collection but won’t be available anywhere else, this is your chance to support the work and own something exclusive.
