The first few test prints are out!

1- Beech, Tehiddy Woods
2- Ash, Penzance
3- Cherry, St. Buryan

It’s cool how some trees give you really defined growth rings and some feel a bit more abstract. The b ch print needs a bit more work to get even ink coverage but it’s got potential to be a beautiful print!

I’m starting to get excited thinking about how great an exhibition would look with 30+ prints hung in a room.

Storm Goretti left a mark on Cornwall, and I want to print it.
Since January 10th, I’ve been collecting tree rings from trees that fell in the recent storms, gathering stories, memories, and connections held within the grain. I currently have 35 rings (still looking for more), each one from a different Cornish tree, each one with a story rooted in place.
The plan is to exhibit the prints alongside information about where each tree grew, and wherever possible, the stories people share about them. Trees have always been meeting places for communities. I want them to continue being meeting places, even after they’ve fallen.
I shared the project on pages and a lot of people got back to me. Sharing sadness. Sharing memories. Sharing a desire to see this project through
The BBC have featured the project on Radio Cornwall and there’s a couple other exciting things coming out soon. There’s momentum. There’s public interest. There’s an opportunity to make something beautiful from devastation.
What there isn’t… is funding.
I’m not asking for donations. I’m offering something in return.
By sponsoring the project, you’ll receive an original handmade print from a tree fallen in Storm Goretti. These prints will be exhibited as part of the wider collection but won’t be available anywhere else, this is your chance to support the work and own something exclusive.

CALL FOR FALLEN CORNISH TREES — ARTIST PROJECT

I’m working on a series of end-grain tree prints to commemorate the devastation of Storm Goretti in Cornwall.

I’m looking for fallen timber — tree rings (cross-sections) from trees that were lost during the storm.
For each piece in the collection, I’d love to include: The species of the tree, and where the tree grew (location/landmark/community connection)

If you have a section of timber from a lost tree, or know of a landmark/woodland/individual who might, please get in touch.

Thanks,

Charlie

What a lush weekend!

Thanks to everyone for helping to make it such a success

Sam and Lottie aka for facilitating the course, cooking up some delish food and generally being great hosts.

All the participants: Leah, and Evi, you were all so creative and attentive and it made teaching a breeze.

Aaron and for providing perfect ash and walnut.

And finally Dave, for being a hero and bringing last min evening refreshments

Keep an eye out on insta page for future courses and events. It’s definitely a place worth visiting! Xx

Really excited about this one!

Weir Holm Meadow] are hosting this course on their beautiful patch of lane by the river in Skenfrith.

This one will be a bit different from courses I’ve ran before, with more of an emphasis on creativity and finding your style. You’ll start with raw materials, I’m currently sourcing the wood from local foresters, and I’ll guide you using hand tools to create a stool, small bench, bedside table that should last for years to come.

Booking is through Weir Holm Meadow] and give them a follow as they do some awesome stuff!

Nice wan, Charlie xx

London plane burr bowl

Stunning grain on this bowl. Full of knots and cracks which are filled with blue and gold food safe epoxy. A few ‘defects’ have been left like a hairline crack, and a few small knots but the bowl is sealed and stable.

The wood came from . It’s from the tree that the new playground is built around.

Currently on sale @ www.Thackerwoodcraft.co.uk/product/London-plane-burr-bowl

WEB SHOP UDPATE!

Hey folks, sorry it’s a been a while since I last posted on here… my much needed break from the gram is over and it genuinely feels nice to show off what I’ve been making over the last few months.

My range of products has recently expanded, weirdly due to an accident and busting my knee which has left me out of work. I’ve playing around making smaller and lighter bits and my range of pots and prints has expanded loads so keep an eye out for them!

I’ll be adding bits to my website daily so keep an eye out for shop updates. A few products will remain exclusive to markets so also try and get down to winter fairs on 3rd, 4th, 17th, 18th December. It’s always a great display of Bristol finest makers as well as mighty good Craic.
