Ok something a little different today!

Here’s some custom built desks I was commissioned to build for the HQ! Complete with monitor stands, chair cut outs and space dividers.

The task was to maximise the limited space in order to fit in the close knit team in a productive and comfortable way, while maintaining a stylish, modern look. The plan was to sit everyone within the footprint of the desks, and add curves to make the whole piece flow together. The spacers have a matched curve at the ends, high enough to keep productivity yet maintain decent view of each other enabling communication while working on grouped tasks.

I love projects like these as they really make you think about the design and problem solve in a way that maximises efficiency and style.

Everything was made of plywood and then wrapped in a stone vinyl by The Wrap Boys.

Here’s another DJ unit, complete with built in amp rack and record storage. It is a simpler design than the last one I showed you, with an overhanging mitred apron and an open tray for your equipment.

This was using completely reclaimed Scaff board, finished in our signature Yakisugi (burnt wood) style and a clear, satin lacquer. I love how it makes the grain POP.

I love using reclaimed materials as it means there’s less trees being cut down, and it gives a second life to timber for decades to come. However, there is a misconception that using reclaimed materials is cheaper. The time it takes to make a rough and reclaimed piece of timber act and look like a finished product totally negates the original price of material, and can often be even more expensive to work with. However, that said, if you are willing to account for that in the price of your pieces in order to save the trees, then I’m more than happy to put the work in to make it happen! It also adds a character that cannot be replicated with fresh cut timber!

Here’s an understairs storage unit made and installed for the fantastic last year, primed and ready for decorating!

This turned into a mammoth project for me at the time, as after taking off the side panel to reveal under the stairs, I noticed the staircase was heavily damaged by woodworm. Therefore a simple storage job turned into fixing the staircase, sanding and treating the entire thing for woodworm, and reframing out under the stairs before I could even begin the storage unit!

Love the bold shaker style and angled cut outs, with 4 deep draws with shelves for shoes and compartments for gloves, tennis balls and shuttle cocks…. There’s also a secret compartment installed on request….. See if you can find it 👀

Made and installed this beauty with this week. Probably my favourite that we’ve done so far!

Love the contrast of the white paint with the oak, just a lovely modern look.

Plus slide 3, the waterfall style grain match on the draws, unreal scenes!

And the on the oak makes the grain POP.

Lovely job all round, very satisfying.
