Light of a Doula

Light of a Doula My name is Mary and I’m a postnatal doula and mother of a little girl. In my opinion, the fourth trimester is just as important to prepare as the birth.

https://www.lightofadoula.com/workshop Born in France, I lived there for a long time until my curiosity and my desire to travel pushed me to leave my native country and settle in London with my h

usband, in 2019. I’m soon move in Bath and I will be able to accompagny family in this areas and surroundings. Light of a Doula was born in the middle of Covid with the desire to shine the light on every family during their postpartum period. This consists of helping the parents prepare their own postpartum to have confidence in themselves and in their choices. I aim to be a doula who will create a calm and sacred space for the family to devote their attention and love to both their baby.ies and their own physical and emotional well-being. This period is a great upheaval that deserves to be accompanied with love and gentleness. The attention is sometimes very quickly focused on the newborn, leaving aside the parents’ needs. However, your physical and mental health is just as important, if not more so, than that of your newborn, because it is you who are in charge of mothering this treasure that you have just brought into the world. I am committed to offering a holistic support. First, with active listening to discuss traumas, frustrations, losses, premature births stories. I aim to be this friend in whose presence parents can not only share their joys but also their fears and doubts. Second, by becoming a doula and a mom, I discovered the benefits of nourishing and warm food for the mamas. I therefore take pleasure in cooking soups, broths, stews, snacks and drinks that comfort body and spirit. Third, I wish for the mums to stay lying down as mush as possible to recover faster and enjoy quality time with your newborn.s. To this point, I can do light household tasks that would otherwise take the parents’ time. Finally, I can also offer breastfeeding support to help you to have a good start and if necessary, I can connect you with other qualified professionals (e.g. lactation consultants) or groups if you encounter further difficulties. With this approach, I want to reduce the parents’ mental load to reduce postpartum depression or anxiety. I offer support from the third trimester onward to create a plan that will meet your needs. Of course, some families are already very lucky to be well surrounded by a village and sometimes only need a little help, an extra pair of hands for a few hours or days. But for others it might be beneficial to talk about topics such as batch cooking, visits and help or communication before the birth. You will find more information on my website where I offer different packages so that each family can find the support adapted to their needs. Please reach out if you’d like to know if I can accompany your family on its new journey.

✨ The truth about postpartum that no one tells you… ✨

When I talk with new parents about postpartum, most tell me: “We’ve set up the nursery, folded the linens, bought the stroller…” 💕

And when I ask: “Amazing! But what have you planned for yourself? For your body, your emotions, your well-being in this new chapter of motherhood?” … silence often follows.

We’ve been conditioned to erase ourselves, to put the baby first at all costs. But here’s the truth: if you’re exhausted, eating on the go, and drained by endless visits, your postpartum journey can feel overwhelming.

🌸 What if you gave yourself permission to prepare for this sacred transition, the way you lovingly choose your baby’s tiny clothes? Because matrescence (the birth of a mother) is just as important as the birth of your baby.

As a doula, I’m here to support you in honoring this time, so you can move through postpartum with more care, softness, and strength.

Everyone does mistakes and especially when nobody talk about taboo topics. Tell me what mistakes have you made or want to avoid ? And go to see mine in the comment 🫣

🍂 3 things I’m doing this September 🍂

🌸 Hey mama, whether you’re pregnant or already in postpartum, September is such an important month.

After the sunshine of summer and the transition back to work, nursery or daily routines, your body and mind deserve extra support (especially to avoid illness this winter). 💛

This last months were very intense and I felt my body was trying to tell me something. So this is my 3 special things that I do in September:

1️⃣ Health check-up: I’m starting the season with a blood test to detect any potential deficiencies. Prevention is always better than cure. ✨

2️⃣ Immune boost: probiotics, multivitamins, magnesium (and I’ll adjust iron + vitamin D depending on my results). I’m doing the same for my daughter and husband too, so we all move into autumn stronger. 🌿

3️⃣ Family alignment : an honest talk with my husband about our organisation/feelings/responsabilities for the next 6 months. With two new projects starting for me, it feels essential to realign and support each other. 💛

That's also the topics that I talk during my Postpartum Preparation workshops ✨

✨ there’s something here meant for you.✨

🌿 Motherhood is sacred.
It is not just after birth, not just after baby arrives.
What if this season wasn’t something to survive… but something you could enter with love, knowledge, and radiant confidence?

🌸 That’s why I’ve created my Postpartum Preparation Workshops : a warm, intimate space for mothers/fathers-to-be in their third trimester. Together, we’ll explore the emotional, physical, and relationships shifts of postpartum so you never feel unseen or unprepared.

💫 Because you are not just a mother, you are a goddess in the making. And when the light shines on you, it naturally shines on your baby too.

⚪ Spots are intentionally limited to keep this circle sacred and supportive. If your heart is whispering yes, this is your moment.

👉 Reserve your place today and honor the incredible woman you are becoming.

💥 This is not just motherhood. This is maternal neglect.

They’ll check your iron levels at 12 weeks of pregnancy… and never again.
They’ll check on your baby's growth but no real support plan for you.
No one warns you that after giving birth, your body may be running on empty.
👉 And that this isn’t just “motherhood” It’s nutritional depletion. And it matters !

There’s no prevention.
No encouragement to keep taking supplements.
No focus on nourishing food that supports your brain, nervous system, uterus, mood.

Just bounce back culture.
“Be grateful.” "Be strong." “Push through.”
I say NO.

Mama,
You don’t need to bounce back.
You need support.
You need a village.
You need rest, connection, and nourishing food.

As a Doula, mother, and woman, I will keep fighting for this shift.
For mothers to be seen, nourished, and respected.

Your wellbeing matters.
Not just the baby's. Yours too. Deeply. Fully.

After birth, you're not just holding a baby,
you're holding your own heart, your new body, your shaken identity.
You’re meeting yourself again !

🌿 You deserve Kindness and Love.
Meals that warm your bones.
Words that hold you.
Spaces where you’re allowed to unravel and be rebuilt softly.

Postpartum was never meant to be walked alone.

🫶🏼 That’s why I do this work.
To remind you that you matter, Mama. That your needs, your rest, your tears, your joy, all of it has a place.

💫 If you’re craving true support, care that nourishes body and soul, I'm here in Bristol.

No one tells you this... but these 5 essentials can change everything after birth.

These 5 steps don’t make postpartum perfect.
But they make it possible to rest. To feel held. And to bond with your baby with more serenity

1. Your postpartum nest 💛
When everything is within reach: snacks, water, red light, cream even diapers you don’t need to get up 10 times during day or night.
You feel more grounded. Cared for. Safe.
Create a beautiful little altar for your healing, even add a little candle ou flower to feel like a godness.

2.The 5-5-5 Rule 🛌🏼
Lying down is not laziness, it’s medicine.
Your uterus, pelvic floor and organs
need gravity-free rest to recover.
Planning for time in the bed (not on your feet) means less bleeding, faster healing, more energy later.

3. Meal planning 🍲
When your baby is crying and you’re starving, you won’t have time to cook. A stocked freezer or meal train means you won’t end up with just dry toast or leftover crackers.
Warm, nourishing meals = more milk for baby, more strength, and more vitality.

4. Your support list 🫂
Write it down. Stick it on the fridge.
When you're exhausted, it’s hard to think straight. Having a list of trusted people — a friend, lactation consultant, postpartum doula makes asking for help simple. No guilt. No confusion.

5.  A 5-minute pause ritual 🧘🏼‍♀️
A breathing space. A guided meditation. A stretch. One tiny ritual just for you.
Your nervous system will thank you. So will your baby — because a regulated mama is the strongest kind.

💭 Are these things already in place for you?
If not, I’ve created a workshop to help you start

We honour the birth… but what about what comes after?

It’s time we take back our power and trust our bodies again.
Knowledge is key and yet postpartum still remains a forgotten topic !

Too many mums are left exhausted, unheard, invisible.
Because rest and recovery aren’t valued enough.
Because the system steps back right when we need it most.

🤍 You deserve more than to just “get through it.”
You deserve support, care, and a plan that nourishes you.

✨ My Bristol-based postpartum workshops & doula support help you feel seen, heard & held, from day one.

🤰🏼You’ve prepared for birth... but what about after ?

Most mothers spend months getting ready for labor
Because we've been taught to fear birth, and we’ve lost so much wisdom that used to be passed on.

But what about the rest ?

Postpartum lasts weeks, months, even years !
And yet, no one prepares us for the emotional, physical, and mental shifts that follow.
We’re left to discover it all on our own.

🤱🏼 And when support is scarce with short paternity leave, family far away and no real village, it can hit hard.
Our bodies. Our minds. Our relationships.

🤍 This is why postpartum preparation matters.
Not as a luxury, but as a foundation.

👉 I’m here to guide you through that.
With real tools, real care, and the support you deserve.
Book your free call with Me or check out my upcoming workshops 🌿

You don’t have to go through this alone.
