🪚🔨 SCAFFOLDING TABLE🔨🪚
Here is my take on how I made a scaffolding table for my home and here are the steps I took to make it
STEP 1
Cut scaffolding boards to your desired length for the size table you’d like
STEP 2
Remove the metal bands off the end of the boards unless you would like to keep
STEP 3
Use a scraper to remove any dirt that might of accumulated over the life span of the boards to make it easier to belt sand
STEP 4
Using a belt sander start to sand down all sides of the boards starting with 40 grit and finishing wjth 80 grit
STEP 5
Using a square and a tape measure mark out the positions of your dowels on the sides of your boards
STEP 6
Place glue inside all the holes you just drilled out then insert the dowels using a hammer
STEP 7
Run along the sides of your boards with polyurethane glue, we do this to help with strength when constructing the table
STEP 8
Clamp together all the boards either all in one go or like I did in 2 parts, I found this to be much easier done in 2 parts
STEP 9
Once the polyurethane glue has gone off (roughly 30 mins if using 30 min glue) you can then go ahead and use your primer of choice to paint into your join, groves and cracks that your boards may or may not have
STEP 10
Once the paint has dried (time depending on temperature you’re working in) you can then sand down the boards again starting with a belt sander with 80 grit then a palm router with 120 grit paper and then finally once more with an orbital sander with 120 grit paper
STEP 11
Apply your varnish and protection or choice
I used American walnut for my choice of colour here
STEP 12
Fix your choice of legs to the underside of your table and that is your table complete!
