Called out to an intermittent fault on one of our old chargepoint installs. Typically it’s outside of the Wallbox warranty but we’re happy to have a look a see if it’s repairable.
In this case it looks like it may be the ribbon connection needed cleaning up.
Fifteen minutes, no charge and it looks like we’re back in business.

Another discrete EV chargepoint install this morning.
Linean clips and EV Ultra cable make for a very tidy job.
Chargepoints are typically installed at the front of most homes making a tidy install doubly important. You’ll never find bulky and unsightly outdoor fuseboards on any of our jobs.
We may not be as ‘cheap’ as the big utility company installs but if we wouldn’t have it on our house we won’t put it on yours.
It’s a matter of care and respect.

“Help I’ve just received a shock from a plastic light switch”.
How can a non conductive accessory possibly become live?
Don’t position air fryers or deep fat fryers below switches and sockets.
Grease and fat can escape from these appliances when in use & can get into live parts and certainly don’t wash greasy accessories with soap & water.
for replacement switches and sockets call now

Interesting view today .
Working in the village at St Thomas a Becket church for a few days.
Rewiring a number of the high-level lighting circuits due to insulation resistance faults picked up on a recent EICR condition report
The lights were replaced a few years ago by another contractor. Presumably thinking they’d never be seen they had squashed the fittings onto existing conduit boxes causing damage to the light fittings and crushing the wiring and many only had a single screw fixing them to the boxes.
We’ve rewired the circuits and refitted the existing lights using plug in ceiling roses and new conduit boxes with extension rings to ensure there’s plenty of space for terminations and more importantly the connections are now fully enclosed- especially important given the timber roof on this historic building.

Over the Christmas period our most frequent call out has been to properties fitted with single ‘upfront’ RCDs or older split-load RCD type fuseboards where multiple circuits share a single or dual RCD trip switch.
Due to the use of a shared RCD, one single fault on any one individual circuit typically causes the loss of power to multiple circuits supplying significant (or in some cases all) lighting, power, heating & hot water to a property.
While a single fault should be a minor inconvenience, the loss of multiple circuits as a result of the operation of a single shared RCD can turn that inconvenience into a genuine urgent situation.
If the homeowner is older or if you’re a of a tenanted property then these properties are particularly sensitive to loss of multiple circuits and occupants are generally unable to wait and may quite possibly require a potentially expensive out of hours emergency call-out.
If your fuseboard looks similar to the types in the first two photos below then consider changing them to a modern RCBO type of fuse-board now (like the one in the third photo) before it becomes a potentially costly emergency call-out.
