Arboreal is an adjective that means living in, relating to, or resembling trees. Derived from the Latin word arbor (meaning "tree").

One common use for arboreal is in general nature - A formal or literary phrasing used to describe the atmosphere or beauty of a forest.

Business Update

I’d like to share an important update regarding the future direction of the business.

From 1st May 2026, AG Tree Services will cease to operate as a practical arboricultural contractor. Moving forward, the business will transition into Arboreal Consultancy, focusing exclusively on professional arboricultural advice, surveys, and reporting.

This change allows us to dedicate my expertise to consultancy services, including (but not limited to):

• Planning and Development Tree Surveys, Drawings and Reports (BS5837)
• Tree Risk Management Surveys and Reports
• Homebuyers (Mortgage) Advice and Reports
• Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), Conservation Area & Duchy Applications – Advice and Applications
• Subsidence Investigations and Reports
• General Tree Management Advice

Please note that we are now unable to take on any further practical tree surgery work.

That said, I want to reassure you that our team will be continuing in this line of work, just not with AG Tree Services. We are actively working hard to ensure their transition is as smooth as possible. As soon as their future positions are confirmed, we will be in touch to recommend trusted professionals for your ongoing practical tree work needs.

📢 A New Chapter for the Business

After many rewarding years carrying out hands-on tree surgery work, an important change in direction is coming for the business.
From 1st May 2026, AG Tree Services will be moving away from practical tree surgery and focusing exclusively on arboricultural consultancy services.

Current projects that were already committed to are being completed, but no new practical tree surgery work can be taken on.

I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the many clients who have supported the business over the years. Since the client database was started six years ago alone, it has been a privilege to work with more than 1,500 clients, and that support and trust has meant a great deal.

As part of this transition, the business will also be undergoing a rebranding phase in the near future, with more details to be shared soon.

From 1st May 2026, services will include professional arboricultural consultancy, such as:

🌳 Tree safety surveys
🌳 Trees in relation to planning and development
🌳 Trees in relation to subsidence investigations
🌳 Mortgage and homebuyer tree reports

I look forward to this next chapter and to continuing to support clients with independent, professional tree advice and consultancy services.

We have a good stock of seasoned hardwood logs for sale.

They are supplied in barrow bags that measure 95cm tall by 45cm wide by 45cm deep. We deliver them and use a sack truck to wheel them to wherever we can but we do not offer any stacking service.

Our logs are 'Ready to Burn' certified so we are audited to ensure our logs are below 20% moisture content.

Free delivery available within 5 mile radius of Broadmayne. We try not to deliver any further than that to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible.

Bags are £38 each including VAT.

We are also offering nets of kindling. Normally £4.50 a net but we are offering them at £3.50 per net or x3 for £10.00 (all figures are inclusive of VAT).

🚨🌳 Dutch Elm Disease Update – Dorset 2025 🌳🚨

As you may have noted by the number of dead elm trees located in many local hedgerows and gardens, Dutch Elm Disease is back on the rise in Dorset this year

This devastating fungus, spread by elm bark beetles, continues to be problematic.

This slow motion video and photo were taken by a clients neighbour during a recent elm tree removal we had to carry out in . The tree had gone from browning of leaves to completely dead in just over 12 months.

We submitted the S211 Planning Notification Regulation 14 paperwork on behalf of the client due to the tree being located within a Conservation Area and as the tree was dead, we had written approval from Dorset Council for the trees removal. We did not remove the logs from site to limit risk of spreading the disease further by transportation of the beetles within the wood.

The video actually shows us rigging the branch down using a rope and pulley into a cleared area of garden to avoid damage to surrounding fences, shrubs, sheds and other obstacles.
