Let's face it - this hot climate isn't making looking after our gardens easy. Constant watering, but plants still wilt and dry - you feel like you're battling with nature.
But what if instead, we try to adapt to these new, changing conditions?
By considering plants that are maybe not as strikingly beautiful or popular, but instead resilient and undemanding, you can save yourself tons of effort and time while adding a new, unique landscape and texture.
For example, this lemon balm easily thrives in 6 weeks of heat and drought even without constant watering or care.
So sometimes, all we need is to rethink our approach and think outside the trends.

In this heat of the dry, boiling summer one of the only places you can find shade and take cover is under an old, wide branching tree.

A shady corner - just the thing we all need right now; because the blazing sun does not mean that you should stay indoors this summer.
So don't just think about perennials for your garden, think bigger - a tree! Especially if you want your children (grandchildren?) to have a shady corner to relax in!

The bold colours and contrasting textures and shapes of this flowering area makes it look balanced and harmonious.
Fortunately, it's continuing to thrive despite the recent hot weather, however the heat does take a toll on both a gardener and a garden - so a blooming, vibrant flower bed is great to see!

Flower hedges... One can be found for every taste!
In our last post, we talked about hydrangeas as hedges.
But if you don't like the sound (or look) of that, lavender might be the plant for you! 🪻
While creating a vibrant and bold atmosphere in your garden, these flowers don't require a lot of watering - the perfect option if you're looking for something a bit lower-maintenance during the summer.

This blooming hydrangea hedge looks fantastic - but during hot weather, please remember to water them often! 💦🌿
The plant requires more watering than others, hence the name - 'HYDRA'ngeas -, and it's especially difficult for them during high temperatures like we've seen recently.

In communal gardens like these, we aim to make the garden fitting for everyone while keeping it tidy and well looked after, so that all can have a outdoor place they are happy with.
Whether it's a space for games and sports or quiet peaceful corner, we hope everyone can find a way to enjoy it.

In the summer months everything is blooming!
For example these amazing campanulas and mexican daisies are at their finest right now, and they have a garden superpower - they can turn any vertical surface into a flowerbed!

These flowers are great at growing vertically in cracks or spaces in walls, and require little watering, so can make the perfect addition to your garden.

It's No Mow May!
This month's re-wilding focus is to leave the lawns flowering, creating a cozy, magical and summery feel.
Whilst we know a cleanly mowed lawn is more traditional, this might be the unexpected change that uplifts your garden!

There's always space for a couple more flowers in your garden!
Just finished a seasonal refresh of lovely seating area for our clients.
But, especially as the weather is warming up, please don't forget to water your plant pots - they dry out much faster than those in the soil, so require more watering. And even if there's a drizzle outside, not much will get in the containers!
