Just before our turning and forging course this year, I suddenly got very (temporarily) ill and was unable to teach, luckily Michelle had just joined us in the woods to spend a month as part of our little community learning and sharing skills. He happens to be a blacksmith, and immediately jumped in to take over teaching hook tool forging to our lovely students. He spent the rest of the month being a huge help on courses while forging tools, learning how to make chairs, ash splint baskets, stools and many other green woodwork products.
Through the sharing of food, craft and time we became good friends and our family feels a little larger, and even though he has continued in his travels we know he will return in years to come.
We are lucky enough to have the same kind of experience with many of the folk who visit us and become part of us, thank you Michelle, .elefant, .roe, .osman and many more who have spent time with us recently for making the crew such a diverse and exciting family to be a part of. We currently have with us for a little autumn project, so will be next?....
