Well, that's a first for me! 😳🔐
Called out this evening to a local shop after the alarm had been triggered and the front doors had been forced open. With the police on scene, I got straight to work changing the locks while standing alongside the shop owner and a young police constable.
Then, completely out of nowhere... BANG! 😲
The burglar came crashing through the suspended ceiling right in front of us!
It turns out he'd broken in and hidden up in the loft space, hoping everyone would leave after the police arrived. Instead, he picked the worst possible moment to lose his footing.
Safe to say he wasn't going anywhere after that!

⚽ So there I was, 5 minutes into the England v Norway game, looking forward to a relaxing evening, when the phone rang.
An elderly couple in Old Romney were locked out of their home and needed help.
I had a choice. Carry on watching the football or go and help. For me, it wasn't really a choice at all.
Less than 20 minutes later I'd driven over, got them safely back inside and was home in time to carry on watching the match.
As it turned out, there wasn't actually a fault with the lock. It was just a bit of confusion, so there was nothing to repair. That means there was nothing to charge for either.
I've always said that if I can help an elderly person without needing to replace parts or materials, I will. Sometimes doing the right thing is worth far more than sending an invoice.

🔐 Local Locksmith Job Today 🔐

Today I attended a local church where the original lock had become completely stuck and was refusing to budge.

As with a lot of older buildings, these jobs can take a bit of patience, care and a gentle touch, especially when you’re dealing with original fittings that you don’t want to damage.

It took a bit of persuasion, but we got there in the end and the lock is now working as it should again.

Always nice to help keep a local building secure, especially one with so much character.

A slightly unusual locksmithing job down at Dungeness today after the customer had lost their keys.

The property itself had a really unique design, which made the job a little less straightforward than usual. The lock setup was a bit peculiar, but we got there in the end and managed to get everything sorted without any unnecessary damage or drama.

Always good to help get someone back in and secure again.
