“After leaving school in 1986 I applied for and was successful in securing an apprenticeship with a local brickwork company. I was taught, from the bottom upwards, the skills and methods used. In the period from 1987-1990 I attended Waltham Forest College on a weekly day

release to obtain a recognised qualification in brickwork. Upon completion of a three-year study I received 2 Distinctions and 1 Credit at City and Guilds Craft Standard in Brickwork Theory, Technical Drawing and Practical Methods. I found standard brickwork unchallenging and shortly after passing the City and Guilds Course I changed fields and began a new career in Building Restoration. I soon became fascinated, strived to perfect the many different methods used and I found my base grounding in brickwork to be very advantageous. In the year 2000 I decided to found Finelay Construction and we have since, completed a multitude of projects in the field of Building Restoration. I still find this field of work hugely rewarding and there is still no better feeling than seeing a restoration project through from beginning to end.” Adrian Finlay - Proprietor.

Facade completely restored apart from the plinth top coat and new stone tread which will be installed once the front garden victorian path and associated works are installed.
Painting and mastic works to complete by others next.

With all restoration works, the devil is in the detail.
Thank you to Andy South for the mint painting and doorway tiling works, Scott Degenhart for doing his magic on the bay roof, superb lead roll hips and flashing work, Paul Watson for his doorway cheek work, Ritchie from Quality Mastics for his superb trim and mastic work.
