🔥 Gas Fire Service & Safety Checks 🔥

Today we attended a gas fire service where, during our initial visual inspection of the chimney, we discovered the cement seal around the pre-fabricated flue had deteriorated, becoming cracked and weak.

For safety and to maintain the integrity of the flue, we carefully removed the damaged cement and re-sealed the area with fresh cement. 👨‍🔧

As part of the service, we also fully cleaned the gas fire and carried out a flue flow test using smoke pellets to ensure the chimney was drawing correctly and operating safely. 💨🔥

While completing our gas safety checks, we identified that the Emergency Control Valve (ECV) was letting by. As safety is always our priority, we capped the supply and contacted Cadent immediately to investigate further.

This is why regular servicing and inspections are so important — issues like these can often go unnoticed until a thorough check is carried out.

🚽 Toilet Replacement – Nuthampstead 🔧

We recently carried out a toilet replacement in Nuthampstead, upgrading the old unit for a brand new, more reliable and efficient setup.

The old toilet was removed and disposed of, and the new one installed, aligned and tested to ensure everything is working perfectly with no leaks.

🔥 Radiator Upgrade – Royston 🔧

We recently completed the installation of 7 brand new radiators in Royston, giving this property a much-needed heating upgrade.

As part of the job, we had to reconfigure the existing pipework to suit the new radiators. This included upsizing pipework from 10mm to 15mm, allowing for improved flow and better overall heat output throughout the system.

✔️ 7 new radiators installed
✔️ Pipework reconfigured to suit new layout
✔️ Upgraded from 10mm to 15mm for better performance
✔️ System balanced and tested

Upgrading pipe sizes alongside new radiators makes a big difference to efficiency and ensures the system runs as it should.

🚿 Shower Cubicle Refresh – Day 1 🔧

Today we started a full refresh on this shower cubicle, stripping it back properly to ensure a solid, long-lasting finish — while keeping the existing shower tray in place as it was still in good condition.

Work completed so far:

✔️ Removed old tiles
✔️ Removed existing shower valve
✔️ Removed old shower door
✔️ Stripped out weakened plasterboard
✔️ Installed new boards (dot & dab)
✔️ First fixed new pipework ready for the new valve
✔️ Fully waterproofed the boards ready for tiling

The previous boards had deteriorated over time, so replacing them was essential before moving forward. Preparation is everything when it comes to bathrooms — no cutting corners.

Stay tuned for the finished result once the tiler has worked their magic 👀🔥
