I'm going to share something about myself, mainly because when I talk to customers about my journey, some of them are fascinated and some have said its helped them too.
I suffer relentlessly from sciatica (shooting pains in my legs). It's been going on for around 5 years and it rules my life. Some nights I really struggled to sleep through the pain.
Trying to keep positive and happy is really taking everything I have.
Sometimes, honestly I feel like giving up. I've had enough.
It all started around lockdown times, stopped going to the gym which is odd, as I've been working out consistently for around 18 years.
Noticed a pain starting to develop in my legs and it steadily got worse.
I was back and forth to GP, eventually got a diagnosis via MRI.
I have a "tethered spinal cord". It's a birth defect that lay dorment for 36ish years.
My spinal cord is anchored with a lipoma to L5 vertibrae, way lower than it should be and it's not free to move, I guess it's pressing on my sciatic nerve.
This condition can be very serious, so I guess I'm lucky π€·
They put me on
Gabapentin
Cocodamil
Naproxine
Omeprazol
Expected to stay on that for life, I did around a year and felt awful all the time. It's didn't particularly work that well. Brain fog big time.
A life of that would destroy my insides.
No chance.
So what did I do? I'm taking anti Inflammatorys to "reduce pain", how else can I reduce inflammation naturally?
1st job, I removed ALL processed food from my diet, if it didn't grow in the ground, grow in the trees, swim, fly or gallop, I'm not eating it.
2nd, "visceral fat". I got really lean again, trimmed down 15kg of body weight.
3rd, natrual anti inflammatorys, turmeric, curcummin, zinc, Dha epa fish oil, Alpha lipoic acid,.
Improve my sleep.
Did ice baths for a bit, but that was HARD.
So what's the end result of all this?
I've not taken ANY pharmaceuticals for my condition for around 6 months.
No, the pain isn't gone, but it's manageable and this far out performed any pills the doctors gave me.
There's no negative side effects from being fitter than you were before!!
I managed to get off the pills by eating real food, improving my fitness and doing my utmost to improve sleep πͺ
Of course it's not going to help everything, but I'm thoroughly convinced that if you're suffering a condition that causes pain, there's so many ways to help ease the issues the doctors are not going to say.
Thanks for reading.
