🎄 Our very popular charity Christmas tree collection with Piper Tree Services is back for the 6th year running raising vital funds to provide music therapy for children facing serious illness, disability, or mental health challenges across Hampshire, Dorset, and Sussex.

🫶 This year thanks to support from .plant we have an extra chipper to help us collect even more trees than the 670 collected last year!!!

It’s simple:
1️⃣. Book your collection online – We’ll collect your real Christmas tree from outside your home.

Collections dates are:
🚗 2-3rd January SO1-19, SO30-32, SO50-53
🚙 3-4th January PO1-17

🎵 Yesterday George’s mum Amy met with the divisional lead of children’s nursing and the head of Southampton Hospitals Charity to explore how we can expand music therapy across all wards at Southampton Children’s Hospital, by far our biggest regional children’s hospital.

Right now, our music therapist Louise is providing 2.5 days a week across 5 of the 10 children’s wards including intensive care, oncology, neurology, and cardiac. The demand is huge: doctors, parents, and staff frequently stop her in the corridors asking if she can support children in departments we simply can’t reach yet as a small charity.

Our NHS colleagues from child psychology to the new learning disability nurse are very clear: they want music therapy available for every child and family in hospital, regardless of diagnosis or ward.

We’re now working closely with the hospital team to make this vision a reality. To do that, we need to grow. That’s why we’re launching a new initiative, inviting Southampton-based businesses to become headline sponsors of music therapy sessions at the hospital.

Last Xmas tree chip of the day. Massive thanks to Valley Tree Care and MJC Tree Surgeons Ltd for lightening the load today. 400 trees collected so far and over £4000 raised with at least another day of collections to go. Thankyou for everyone’s continued and growing support for George's Rockstars 😊

🎄For our 5th year running our annual and very popular charity Christmas tree collection with Piper Tree Services is back!

💪 Last year we collected over 500 trees across Southampton and Portsmouth and the surrounding areas and this year we want to smash that to help even more children in our local hospitals through the magic of music therapy. With help from .treecare and Valley Tree Care, we know we can smash the £3400 raised last year which funded 136 music therapy sessions for children in hospitals across Hampshire!

Please note, to collect as many trees as possible we cannot give time slots or specify which of the two days the tree will be collected. Please leave your tree out visible to the roadside for one of our teams to collect for your postcode collection dates and it will be collected when our teams are passing the area. We collect until late so please be patient.

Yesterday I stepped in to help the 5th boat for George's Rockstars at the Dragon Boat Race for Childhood Cancer Awareness month and Faith stepped in as the drummer for boat 4!!
7 amazing charities set up in memory of beautiful children taken way too soon and run by some incredible mums.
From a pretty terrible first race we pulled it back and got to the final and won bronze!! 👏
Sponsorship is hugely appreciated, a quid or two from a few soon adds up and makes the amazing music therapy session for children in hospital that Amy O'Shaughnessy works so hard to make happen.
